Surya did his role perfectly as Bodhidharma and the first 20 minutes of the movie is awesome. Bodhidharma is the son of Tamil King of the Pallava Vamsha in 275–350 AD and their capital is Kanchipuram.

The story begins with Bodhidharma who has been sent to China to stop the spread of a pandemic disease. After his successfull in curing the disease, Bodhidharma started teaching to cure diseases and hypnotism along with Shaolin Kung Fu. When Bodhidharma wants to return to India, the villagers in China wants him to be buried on their land and Bodhidharma agrees to die. It becomes the Chinese history and Bodhidharma is also referred by them as Damo. About 20 minutes of this section completes the wonderful history part and story returns to modern day.

Subha (Shruti Haasan) is a research student and her research proving that Bodhidharma can be brought back by matching the DNA sample of Bodhidharma with Aravind (Surya) who is from Bodhidharma's vamsha, currently working as a circus artist in Chennai. Dong Lee (Johnny Tri Nguyen) has been sent to India to spread the pandemic disease by injecting the virus into street dog and to kill Subha (Shruti Haasan) and Aravind (Surya) so that Bodhidharma would not come back. Dong Lee, is mastered in Hypnotism, also known as "Nokku Varmam" in Tamil, can control anyone's mind and does bad things. Finally with the success in DNA research, Aravind DNA matched Bodhidharma and he kills Dong Lee is the end of the story.

The entire team AR Murugadoss, Surya, Shurtihaasan, Johnny Tri Nguyen, Harris Jayaraj and others came up with a very good movie and the songs are also a plus point.

Now the negative part of the movie. We can ignore the tamil accent of Shurtihaasan first. Still we could see a little hype on her in the movie. Dong Lee is an expert in Hypnotism and but to show that there is too much of time spent on this movie, that is unnecessary. Rather the importance might have given to Surya and the climax part. The romance scenes between Surya and Shurtihaasan is not enough in the screenplay, even the songs worked out well.

Overall this movie is one of the great achievement in Tamil Movies Industry and must watch atleast once.
